Spice G 6650, The First Dual SIM 3G Phone
Indian mobile brands are now bringing in aggressively priced phone models that offer quite everything you would expect from a premium branded phone. Now it is getting bigger. These brands are leveraging their local market knowledge and bringing in revolutionary technologies and features targeting specific needs of Indian consumers to differentiate and compete. The latest offering from Spice Mobile, Spice G 6650 falls into this category.
Spice G 6650 has a unique identity of being India"s first Dual SIM phone which supports one normal 2G SIM card and a high speed 3 G SIM card. And it comes loaded with all the specs needed to make maximum utilisation of the 3G technology.
One service, which is expected to become popular with the onset of 3G in India, is video calling. As per our review, the new Spice model “Spice G 6650" has dual camera, one at the back and one of the front fully enabling video calling feature. It also allows data transfer speeds of around 3.6Mbps that would facilitate high speed download and a VGA camera with video recording capability.
In addition to the rich multimedia features, the new Spice models also hosts a wide array of user friendly features like:
- An external micro SD card option to extend memory up to 4 GB along with the 54 MB internal memory.
- Normal connectivity options like Bluetooth and data or USB cable
- GPRS and EDGE support
- 100 gm in weight and a battery backup providing talk time up to five hours
It has a flash support for its camera which can somewhat be termed awkward because of the low power camera it offers and it has an useful torch function that you could prove handy in power cuts experienced at your homes.
Regarding the price tag of this phone, Spice has stuck onto its tradition of offering more features for lesser price in this case too. Spice G 6650 retails for around Rs 4400 and thus can be considered to be a worthy competitor to other dual SIM phones from companies like Samsung which fall in the price band. The advantage is additional 3G support for the same price.
