Just a coupe of weeks back, Spice surprised most of the tech community in India by announcing its first smartwatch called the Smart Pulse, and now the company has launched two new smartphones in India.

The devices come dubbed as Stellar 497 and Stellar 361 and are very affordable priced at Rs. 5,999 and Rs. 3,699 respectively and both these devices are currently selling via third-party online retailer Saholic.

These are the smartphnes that are aimed to cater to the need of the low-end smartphone buyers in India. The Spice Stellar 497 is at least better in terms of processor and OS, as it features the trending KitKat OS and Quad Core processor. However, the RAM used in the handset is still very less which makes it incompetent in the Indian market.

Spice Stellar 497: Key Specifications

Spice Stellar 497 comes with a 4.5-inch (854 x 480 pixels) capacitive touchscreen IPS display and is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor coupled with 512MB RAM and runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat) OS. Other specs include: Dual SIM, 3.2MP rear camera with LED flash, 2MP front-facing camera, 4GB internal memory, 32GB expandable memory with MicroSD, 3G HSPA+, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth, GPS and comes packed with a 1650 mAh battery.

Spice Stellar 361: Key Specifications

This one comes with a smaller display size and also lesser powerful hardware. It features a 3.5-inch (480 x 320 pixels) capacitive touch screen display and is powered by a 1GHz dual-core processor coupled with a basic 256MB RAM and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean) OS. Other specs include: Dual SIM, 2MP camera with LED flash, 1.3MP front-facing camera, 3G HSPA+, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth, GPS, 512MB internal memory, expandable memory with microSD (up to 32GB) and a 1400 mAh battery.

Competition

The company's latest two offerings in the form of these two entry level KitKat phones are not up to the expectation of the market. If you are in need of one budget smartphone with KitKat OS, there are ample devices that can be checked out. To name few, Micromax Canvas Unite, Canvas Engage, Xolo Q600s, Moto E are playing the top games in the low-end KitKat smarpthone market.
