Spice Stellar Buddy Mi-315: Micromax Smarty 3.0 A30 Competitor Spotted Online at Rs 3490
Currently, the native smartphone manufacturers have started following a trend of launching handsets online via e-commerce websites. One such company S Mobility follows the trick of releasing handsets on its own online retailer site Saholic.com besides others.
On the same lines, Spice Mobiles has released an entry-level smartphone dubbed as Stellar Buddy Mi-315. The handset is listed on a couple of online retailers including Saholic and Flipkart and is priced at Rs 3,490.
Talking about features, Stellar Buddy Mi-315 flaunts a 3.2 inch capacitive touchscreen display with an unknown resolution (speculated to be 320 x 240 pixels), Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system, dual SIM support, 1GHz processor, 256MB RAM, 512MB internal storage, 2G, 3.2MP rear camera, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and a 1,400 mAh battery.
Analyzing the specifications, it can be said that the Spice offering without a front camera for video calling and 3G connectivity, is mainly targeted towards budget oriented first time smartphone users. Moreover, it runs on Gingerbread, which is pretty old, while the budget smartphones have started incorporating Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system.
When it comes to competition, it can be that there are several handsets that are launched with similar specifications and at the same price point. Micromax, which is also based in India and looking forward to become the leading handset vendor in the nation is also constantly splashing the market with low priced handsets.
Recently, Micromax launched Smarty 3.0 A30, which also runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system. The handset sports a 3 inch TFT touchscreen display with a resolution of 320 x 240 pixels, 832MHz processor, 2MP rear camera, 256MB RAM, micro SD card supporting up to 32G expandable storage, 512MB internal storage, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and a 1,500 mAh battery.
On the pricing front, Micromax Smarty 3.0 A30 is available at a price of Rs 3,999, which may be slightly higher than that of Spice Stellar Buddy Mi-315. However, it is important to note that the handset comes with 3G, which is lacking in the latter. On the other hand, the relatively low priced Spice handset comes with a faster processor and batter camera.
