India based mobile internet company, S Mobility popularly known as Spice Mobiles, already has penetrated in the market with a plethora of Android smartphones and feature phones at reasonable price tags. However, now it seems that Spice has also developed an interest towards big screen Android smartphone to compete with the global challengers. This can be said as the manufacturer has launched a new 4.5 inch handset -- Stellar

Virtuoso Mi-495 -- priced at Rs 10,499. The company announced the phone on their official Facebook page, quoting, "Spice announces the arrival of the latest entrant to its Stellar Range of smart devices - The Spice Stellar Virtuoso - a perfect balance of form and function, head turning aesthetics and explosive performance, enhanced by the large screen with wide-screen viewing for a visually scintillating experience."

When it comes to specs and features, Stellar Virtuoso will come packed with 4.5 inch qHD display, 9.4 mm thin body, 1GHz dual core processor, 1GB RAM, and Android 4.0 ICS. The handset is available for purchase on online retailer Saholic.com for Rs 10,499.

Priced at Rs 9,999, Canvas 2 with a slightly larger display and a lower price tag could be a rival to the Spice offering.

Followng Andi 5c, iBall has come up with a budget smartphone dubbed as Andi 4.3j with a 4.3 inch capacitive touchscreen display, 1GHz ARM Cortex A9 processor, Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS, 5MP rear camera, 0.3MP VGA front camera, 2GB internal storage, 512MB RAM and micro SD card slot supporting up to 32GB expandable memory.

Further, the iBall offering includes connectivity features like Wi-Fi, GPRS, Bluetooth, 3G and is powered by dual batteries - 1,630 mAh Li-ion battery and 900 mAh Li-ion battery totaling to 2,530 mAh Li-ion battery.

With a price tag of Rs 9,499 and with dual battery option, the iBall smartphone could definitely be a rival to Stellar Virtuoso.

When it comes to the Karbonn's mid-range dual SIM offering, the handset has a 4.5 inch multi-touch capacitive display with 480 x 800 pixel resolution, 1.2GHz dual core Qualcomm Scorpion processor, GPU under its hood, 5MP rear camera and a 1.3MP camera front camera.

Further, the handset is packed with 4GB internal storage, 512MB, a micro SD card slot supporting up to 32GB expandable memory, 3G, Bluetooth, GPS with aGPS, USB 2.0, Wi-Fi and 1,800 mAh Li-ion battery delivering 5 hours talk time and 200 hours standby.

Karbonn has priced the handset at Rs 11,990, which is quite higher, but, it comes with a faster processor and a better battery spec as compared to the Spice smartphone.

Following the launch of two budget dual SIM smartphones in India - Iris N320 and Iris N350, the Indian manufacturer Lava launched a mid-range Android ICS dual SIM smartphone - Xolo A700.

Speaking of the specs, Xolo A700 features a 4.5 inch IPS capacitive touchscreen display with 960 x 540 pixel resolution, 1GHz dual-core MediaTek MT6577 processor, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS, 5MP rear camera with autofocus and LED flash, VGA front facing camera for video chatting, 512MB RAM, 4GB internal storage and expandable memory option up to 32GB via microSD card.

Further, the handset comes packed with connectivity features including 3G HSPA 7.2Mbps, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v2.1, aGPS and micro USB 2.0 and is loaded with a 1,700 mAh battery offering up to 3 hours talk time and 288 hours standby. Also, the handset will support dual SIM feature (3G + 2G).

With a price tag of Rs 9,999, which is significantly lower, the Lava offering has the ability to pose a threat to the Spice smartphone.
