Samsung is betting big, when it comes to Tizen OS. It's an upcoming OS based on HTML 5. The South Korean giant has plans to announce smartphones based on Tixen mobile OS around August this year. Last month at Tizen Development Conference (TDC 2013), the new version of Tizen OS was unveiled. In the International arena, tech vendors such as Samsung, NTT DoCoMo , and Orange have plans to release their devices. With biggies like Samsung going for Tizen OS; it is to be seen how this mobile OS fairs in comparison to Android and iOS. Earlier this year Mozilla Foundation revealed their big gamble in the form of Firefox OS.
Sam Mobile reports that Tizen Indonesia released couple of screenshots of upcoming devices running Tizen. It is not known yet whether any of the screenshots have any connection with Samsung's forthcoming Tizen OS based handset. The leaked screenshots gave us an insight to camera interface, an e-mail client, and the web browser. Now the Tizen OS 2.1 has been announced a couple of days back; there are chances to see couple of more reveals coming our way.
The South Korean giant is working on a high-end Tizen OS powered smartphone. One of them will be on the lines of Samsung Galaxy S3. According to multiple reports, currently two devices are in the production stage: Samsung - GT-I8000 and the GT-8805. Few days back, Sam Mobile reported that "Redwood", a codename of upcoming Tizen OS powered handset from Samsung.It will feature 4G LTE, Cortex-A9 processor, and 720p HD display
What is known about Samsung and Tizen OS?
Last month at Tizen Developers Conference, a Samsung executive, who is also a member of Tizen Technical Steering Group, is being recorded saying "Tizen-based products will come out very soon." Some reports also say that Tizen OS based handset will first go on sale in Europe and Japan, as early as July.
Back in March, a senior Samsung executive told Bloomberg that company would be able to announce Tizen OS based handsets in August or September.
