In the year 2012, Google's Android mobile operating system dominated the smartphones market and currently holds 75 per cent of the market share having recently shipped 136 million Android-based smartphones in the third quarter of this year.
Recent data collected on Android devices accessing the Google Play application store shows that the latest Android 4.1 'Jelly Bean' platform has finally broken the 2 percent barrier. But Android 4.0 'Ice Cream Sandwich continues to gain ground faster, currently powering more than a quarter of Android devices.
However, tech analysts anticipate that with the upgradation of Android devices and launch of new Android Jelly Bean based smartphones and tablets, Google's latest OS usage will grow in days to come and will dominate the market.
