Top 5 Smartphones That Got Launched in India This Week

This week was pretty amazing one as we got to see the unveiling of numerous products from various tech firms via the Computex 2014 that was held in Taipei and also WWDC 2014. At the Computex, most of the tech firms like HP, Dell, Intel, HP and other made an impressive announcements. On the other hand, Apple also made few announcements at their own event like the new iOS 8 and new Mac OS the OS X Yosemite.

 

In India, the scene was pretty different. Apart from HP, none other manufacturers made any announcements. However, in the smartphone segment, the country got to see the advent of the handful of devices.

Chinese smartphone makers like Gionee and Huawei launched their latest smartphones called the Pioneer P2S and Honor 3C respectively. While Nokia also made its Lumia 630 available in India. And obviously, homegrown makers like Xolo and Spice also released theirs called Q1200 and respectively. Moreover, BSNL has also introduced one of the cheapest camera featuring feature-phone in India as well.

The Gionee Pioneer P2S comes with a 4.0-inch (480 x 800 pixels) capacitive touch screen display. It is powered by a 1.3 GHz dual-core processor and Mali 400 GPU coupled with 512 MB RAM. It runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean) OS. There is a 5 MP rear camera with LED flash and 0.3MP (VGA) front-facing shooter as well.

Connectivity options include 3G, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, GPS and obviously it is a Dual SIM (GSM + GSM) handset with Dual Standby. The company has used 4GB of internal memory that can be further expanded up to 32GB via microSD card. It is powered by a 1600 mAh battery.

The Xolo Q1200 comes with a 5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD IPS display and it is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. It is powered by a 1.3 GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6582 processor with Mali 400 MP2 GPU. For multi-tasking purposes, you will get a 1GB RAM in the device and the Q1200 runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean), which according to the company is upgradable to Android 4.4 (KitKat).

The handset is also pretty much a great imaging device as it uses an 8MP rear camera with Dual LED Flash and Sony Exmor R sensor. Moreover, at the front you will also get to see a 2MP unit. Xolo has offered an 8GB of internal storage in the device which can be further expandable up to 32GB via microSD card. Connectivity options include 3G, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS and USB OTG. It is powered by a 2,000 mAh battery.

There's a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera without an LED Flash. Unfortunately, the makers have not added a front-facing camera. It runs on Windows Phone 8.1 OS. The phone is features 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, HERE Maps and a 1,830mAh battery.

On the camera front, there's an 8MP rear camera with LED Flash, Sony BSI sensor and f/2.0 aperture. The device also has a 5MP front-facing camera with 22mm wide angle lens, 1.4um large pixel sensor and F2.4 aperture. As far as native storage is concerned, the phone offer an 8GB of on-board storage, which can be later expanded via a microSD card.
