Before Apple, it was Motorola who used to rule America. We really miss Motorola Flip phones. Since the coming of Samsung and Apple, the American giant started fading and was unable to come back to the top. The same thing happened with Nokia also. Consumers started accepting smartphones in a big way, which left Motorola into shambles.
The company failed to tackle growing popularity of Apple in its homeland. Forget about Americas, Motorola lost key markets to Samsung. In between the company tried its hands by making a tablet. Unfortunately, it was a forgettable affair. In the past two year, Motorola announced many handsets powered by Google's Android OS. Out of them two smarthones were proved to be the bestsellers - Droid Razr and the Droid Razr Maxx.
In 2012, Google acquired Motorola for $12.5 billion. Now Motorola is still a separate company but it will function under Google. For the past one year, Motorola in association with Google are working on Moto X phone. The device (still in the making) is an answer to Apple iPhone 5 and Samsung Galaxy S4. Earlier in the year a senior executive over at Motorola accepted that they are making Moto X. The high-end smartphone is expected to hit American shores later this year.
Now Motorola is once again trying to revamp its operations. With the help of Google, the company is set to start new innings. For instance, the logo of Motorola has now been changed. The essence remains the same.
We are aware that Motorola is keen to come back. Naturally, the tech vendor has planned few devices. So here are five rumored handsets coming your way soon. Some of them are high -end one, while others are on lower side. No one knows exactly, when these devices hit markets worldwide.
Motorola India had closed its operations last year. The company even closed its official website. The interesting part is that Google is rapidly expanding its Indian operations. The software giant has planned to enter Indian retail market with Android Nation stores. Google has signed JV with Spice Global. The first such store is set to open in New Delhi later this year. Motorola, now a Google company, could sell its devices via Android Nation stores.
This is the most anticipated Motorola handset to arrive later this year. It is said that the phone will likely to hit major carriers in US. It is said to have a 4.7-inch 720p HD display, 2GB of RAM, 1.7GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, and 16GB of internal memory. The phone will arrive with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. According to TechKiddy, the Moto X comes with 10.5mega pixel shooter. The leak image sample signals 10.5MP with a 16:9 aspect ratio. We expect the phone to be announced on August 1.
Motorola Droid Razr Ultra
According to reports, Motorola has planned three more devices after the Moto X. The Droid Razr Ultra could be one among them. The specifications are not out yet. But going by the name, it hints at very slim trim device. Is Motorola prepping Huawei Ascend P6 competitor? Can't say at this moment, but surely Motorola has its eyes on leading tech vendors of the world.
Motorola Droid Razr M Ultra
The Droid Razr M Ultra is yet another handset that will hit stores later this year. It is said to be a budget Android handset. We have seen Samsung coming up with Galaxy S4 Mini, a cheaper version of monster Galaxy S4. Another vendor HTC is also preparing a low grade version of HTC One. Here M could also mean "Mini" Ultra or mid -end handset. Both Droid Razr Ultra and Razr M Ultra will be carried by Verizon.
Then there is another handset manufactured by Motorola, slated to announce later this year. This very handset won't resemble to Razr Ultra or Moto X. According to PhoneArena, the handset is aimed at emerging markets. It would be ultra low-cost. Google wants smartphone priced to be reduced in markets like India. Mozilla foundation is already targeting emerging markets with Firefox OS powered phones.
Motorola Nexus Phone
There is a speculation in the market which says that Motorola is building next Nexus device. While many believe that LG has already started work on a sequel to Nexus 4. For Motorola it is not a difficult task to make Nexus device. The company is known for its hardware and now it's a part of Google, so there are chances to see next -gen Nexus phone from Motorola. Stay tuned to GizBot.
