British based mobile manufacturer and luxury phone retailer Vertu has opened its first mono-brand store in New Delhi. The company has dedicated boutiques across 66 countries however, till now Vertu had been making sales through the network of dealers in India.
Now, the manufacturer is planning to open showrooms in Metros including Bangalore, Mumbai and Hyderabad. Vertu President Perry Oosting who was in the country for the opening of the new showroom said that there is a huge growth opportunity in India.
“People here are well travelled and appreciate the value offered by luxury products. Vertu is planning to tap that potential.” He added that the company currently has 19 points of sale in the Indian subcontinent and is planning to launch more showrooms in different parts of the country.
Following the store launch, Vertu also unveiled its brand new ultra luxurious smartphone Constellation Smile for customers in India. The device is priced at 2.96 lakh and is basically a Nokia C7 Symbian phone which will have semi precious stones embedded in a metal shell.
The device uses a 3.5inch HD AMOLED display which has a sapphire crystal coating. An 8 megapixel camera is incorporated in the device. Constellation Smile Smartphone will be made available for users in color variants of Coral Blue, Coral Red, Pebble Grey and Anemone Purple.
With the launch of its flagship store in the country, Vertu is planning to create high utility apps for its high profile clients leveraging the application development capabilities of Indian firms. The company is mainly focusing on companies in Bangalore which is the IT hub of India.
