Xiaomi Redmi 1S Review: Camera and Video
Pardon us for being repetitive, but the Redmi 1S scores aces in almost all the sectors, and the camera offering for the same isn't any different either. And for that matter, let us tell you that this is the best you will get at this price range. And you won't be dissapointed either.
The Redmi 1S comes with an 8-megapixel BSI camera with flash, and can record 1080p videos. It also has a 1.6-megapixel front-facing camera. But don't go by the numbers that you see here since the handset offers even more than it actually meets the eye.
For the sake of comparison, while the handset's camera is not as fast as the Mi 3 camera, but it's still more than a life saver if you are considering casual shooting. Also, you have to understand that this is a budget-oriented handset and is not really meant for big things. But whatever the quality you get in this regard is more than adequate.
In terms of the camera offering, the handset comes with four built in filters, an HDR mode, Panorama mode and the usual settings that you would need to change certain aspects of the images clicked.
The day time shots taken with the camera looked brilliant as it captured light pretty well. This resulted in some really good images with great quality. But that neing said, the camera did face a bit of a downer when it tried focusing on a subject, accompanied by a lot of noise in the background. But the colors seemed natural, even in the macro mode.
But what took us by surprise is the kind of image quality we experienced in terms of low light. Interestingly, not only did the camera manage to capture the subejct in its entireity, but it even managed to capture a few details as well.
More so that its actually enough to put other high-end smartphones in shame. Here's a tip: Always use the advanced mode in the camera to get the best out of it.
