Xiaomi is here to stay! It's as simple as that. The company may not have had great marketing policies as that of all the big names around, but its devices beg to differ. The Xiaomi-made handsets are truly one of a kind.

With the excitement related to the release and popularity of Mi 3 now slowly subsiding, the company gearing up for the release of the new Redmi 1S handset in India. The handset is the company's attempt to foray into the budget segment of the market.

Going through the specs of the handset once more, launched at Rs. 5,999, the Redmi 1S sports a 4.7-inch 720p IPS LCD display with a layer of Dragontrail glass. It comes powered by a 1.6GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 quad-core processor coupled with 1GB RAM. The phone runs on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean with Xiaomi's MIUI layer on top.

Talking about the photography aspect of it, the smartphone features an 8MP rear shooter and a 1.6MP front facing camera as well. On the storage front, it uses 8GB of internal storage which can further be expanded up to 64GB via microSD card.

It is a dual SIM smartphone with other connectivity options like 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth and USB support. It is fueled by a 2000mAh battery. Hence, in a single word, more than decent specs for the amount of money you pay for it.
