Xiaomi Redmi 1S Launched in India with 8MP Camera at Rs 6,999: Top 10 Big Smartphones Under Threat

China's fastest growing smartphone maker Xiaomi on Tuesday launched the Redmi 1S in India, alongside the Mi3 and the Redmi Note. Xiaomi, a new entrant in the India, aims to be a big time player in the country with its superior quality devices.

While the Mi 3 will go on sale starting July 22, the two Redmi phones will be available in August. Talking about the Redmi 1S, this budget phone which was unveiled earlier in the year, features a 4.7-inch 720p IPS display. It is powered by a 1.6GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 quad-core processor coupled with 1GB RAM.

It also has 16GB internal storage and a microSD card slot that supports storage cards of up to 64GB. The phone has a 2000mAh battery and runs on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean with Xiaomi's MiUi layer on top. The phone has sports an 8MP rear camera and a 1.6MP front facing camera.

The Xiaomi 1S has been a successful handset around the world. The device will be projected as an arch rival to the Motorola Moto E and the Micromax Unite 2 in the handset market.
