The model is christened the Xperia Ray. The model was announced along with two others by Sony Ericsson at a separate event held along with the CommunicAsia 2011. It is still not clear as to why Sony Ericsson preferred to miss out on the CommunicAsia 2011 event and focus on a separate event to act as a Launchpad for the new mobiles. Maybe it was to garner more attention to these prestigious models.
Xperia Ray is designed on the cues of the Xperia X10 as it is evident from the similarities between the 2 phones in more ways than one. The phone has also adapted some design elements from the Xperia Arc as well. That is mainly in the newly aligned menu button that is adorning Xperia Ray.
Xperia Ray has some cool features and is comparatively a smaller phone than X10. It is both thinner and lightweight. It has a 3.3 inch touch screen based display that has support for viewing high definition content. The display is Scratch resistant and also immune to dust. The phone has the latest Timescape UI from Sony Ericsson that is a delight to use with neatly arranged applications and menu tabs.
The phone has all the latest in multimedia support including Audio and Video player, recording for audio and video, stereo speakers, FM radio, Universal 3.5 mm jack and many more. The phone has support for a large variety of media files including high definition video content.
Xperia Ray has a powerful camera that supports high definition video recording. The phone has considerable internal memory besides providing a large external memory expansion support via a Micro SD slot.
