ZTE Launches Grand X Quad Lite and 5 Other Equally Enticing Phones in Indian Smartphone Market
ZTE, the world's fourth largest handset vendor, has announced it's much talked about debut in India. In total, as many as six handsets were launched in an event held in Mumbai.
After Huawei Telecommunications, ZTE has become the second player who seeks to target Indian consumers with their affordable range of Android running smartphones. The Indian handset market is now largely dominated by homegrown tech vendors like Micromax, Karbonn and Lava, amongst others.
While Samsung and Nokia, still command a mammoth share in the Indian smartphone market. It is to be seen whether ZTE emerged as a favorable player in the sub Rs. 15,000 smartphone market in the coming days or not.
The Chinese major announced six smartphones priced between Rs. 5,000 and Rs. 15,000. The ZTE Grand X Lite is the most premium handset launched by ZTE in the Indian market. All six handset are categorized under three sub-brands: Grand, Blade and Flex. Of course, Grand is the most premium of them all, while Blade series falls under low-to-mid end range.
There are totaled four handsets launched under Blade series. The range starts at Rs. 7,599 and goes up to Rs. 12,599. However, ZTE hasn't informed whether these handsets are eligible to get immediate version of Android mobile OS in the near future.
Apart from smartphones, ZTE has launched 3G data cards under Swift brand. These data cards are available in four variants: Swift (7.2Mbps with Voice Call) at Rs. 1799, Swift Plus (14.4Mbps) at Rs. 1999, Swift WPlus (14.4Mbps with Wifi) at Rs. 2250 and Swift Speed (21.6Mbps with Voice Call) at Rs. 2499.
Moreover, ZTE has 214 services centers in India. The Chinese vendor is aiming to be the third largest smartphone player in the country within three years. The makers behind ZTE Open, has inked deals with leading distributers - Calyx Telecommunications for smartphones, and Digilife ( an arm of HCL Infosystems Ltd), to make ZTE brand more accessible in the Indian market.

ZTE GRAND X Quad Lite
The ZTE Grand X is a mid-end Android handset priced at Rs. 14,999. The internal specifications are not great either neither the price. It has a 5-inch qHD display having resolution of 960 x 540 pixels. The phone packs a 1.2GHz quad-core processor coupled with 512MB of RAM, 1GB of DDR SD RAM and 4GB of internal memory which can be expanded via microSD card. There's a 5-mega pixel camera (Auto Focus + LED Flash) on the rear back and VGA quality camera on the front. Android 4.2 Jelly Bean comes out of the box. The device measures 9.6mm in terms of thickness and weighs 170grams. Other connectivity options include: 3G, Dual- SIM, Wi-Fi, A-GPS and Bluetooth.
ZTE Blade L
The ZTE Blade L flaunts 5-inch display having resolution of 480 x 800 pixels. The resolution is tad low, and price is on a higher side. The dual-core powered handset comes with Android 4.0 ICS. The RAM stands at 512MB and 4GB of ROM has been provided which can be further expanded via microSD card. The Dual SIM phone has a 5-mega pixel rear shooter (Auto Focus + LED Flash) and VGA quality front facing camera. The makers have added a 2000mAh Li Ion battery. The ZTE Blade L measures 10.5mm in terms of thickness and weighs 200 grams. The device is priced at Rs. 12,599
ZTE Blade G2
The Blade G2 packs a 4.5-inch FWVGA display having resolution of 480 x 854 pixels. Inside, you will see a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor coupled with 512MB of RAM and 4GB of ROM (expandable). Android 4.1 Jelly Bean comes out of the box. Again the camera is an ordinary affair, a 5-mega pixel rear facing camera (Auto Focus + LED Flash), and VGA quality front facing camera on the front. There's a 2000mAh L ion battery fitted inside. The Blade G2 measures 9.9mm and weighs 145grams. This 3G enabled phone is priced at Rs. 11,599.
ZTE Blade E
The third smartphone under Blade series comes with 1.2GHz quad-core processor. The phone has a 4.5-inch FWVGA IPS display having resolution of 480 x 854 pixels. The RAM stands at 512MB and 4GB of ROM (expandable) given for true -multitasking. The Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean comes out of the box. The Dual SIM smartphone packs 5-mega pixel rear facing camera with Fixed Focus and LED Flash built-in. The battery size - 1,600mAh Li Ion, is manageable. The Blade E measures 11mm in terms of thickness and weighs 140 grams. ZTE has priced this phone at Rs. 11,999. GizBot find this 3G enabled phone (Dual SIM), an expensive affair.
ZTE Blade C
The most affordable handsets under Blade series, is priced at Rs. 7,599. The Dual SIM + 3G phone comes with plain internal specifications. The Blade C comes with a 4-inch WVGA display having resolution of 480 x 800 pixels. Under the hood, you will see a dual core processor (1.2 GHz) coupled with 512MB of RAM and 4GB of ROM (expandable) are given. The phone is powered by 4.1 Jelly Bean. The device is thick at 11.9mm and weighs 130grams. There's a 3-mega pixel rear facing camera. The front camera seems missing. Other features include: 3G, Dual SIM, 1600mAh Li Ion battery, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity.
ZTE Kis Flex
The ZTE Kis Flex is aimed to crush smartphones like Samsung Galaxy Star and Nokia Asha 501, which are available in the same price range. The screen size - 3.5inch with QVGA display having resolution of 320 x 480 pixels. The RAM stands at 256MB and 51MB internal memory can be further expanded up to 32GB. The Android 2.3 supported phone looks ancient. There's a 1 GHz single core processor found inside. The makers have added a 1200mAh Li Ion battery. Other connectivity features include: 2G, Dual SIM, 3G, a 2-mega pixel rear facing camera (Fixed focus), no front facing camera, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi connectivity. The device is priced at Rs. 5,799.
