ZTE Skate smartphone runs with an 800 MHz Qualcomm MSM7227T processor. The Google Android v2.3 Gingerbread Operating System makes it one good option as you can improve the phone with a lot of application. It has a long good looking TFT capacitive multi touch display of 4.3 inches and has a great screen size of 480 x 800 pixels. ZTE Skate also comes with proximity sensor, accelerometer sensor, etc. Although it is equipped with only 512 MB RAM, it's moderately fast but not very impressive. Expect satisfying performance. Supporting 2G networks of 900/1800/1900 MHz frequencies, ZTE Skate is also 3G enabled supporting HSDPA 900/2100 frequency range.
The Android phone's loudspeaker is awesome although the audio quality is just above average. It is good for classic rock music genres. Skate comes with a 3.5 mm audio jack. MicroSD card gives the phone good memory storage and you can improve the memory to about 32 GB. The Connectivity options for Internet in the phone are pretty good. Skate, besides the 3G, also support GPRS, EDGE connectivity as well. The WiFi hotspot enabled Skate also features standard 802.11 b/g WiFi. It is equipped with a microUSB v2.0 port. The v2.1 Bluetooth with A2DP enabled is very much reliable.
The primary camera is commendable for its quality. The 5 megapixel rear camera offers a maximum resolution of 2592 x 1944 pixels to the images and is quite decent in the video recording ability as well. The camera also features Geo tagging features other than LED flash and autofocus features. Skate disappointingly lacks a secondary camera and hence it cannot support video conferencing. The media player in Skate supports the following formats - MP4/H.264/H.263 videos; MP3/WAV/eAAC+ audios.
Even though, Skate has a 1400 mAh Li ion battery, it offers only 5 hours talk time. ZTE Skate will be available for sale soon and is expected to be around Rs 15,000/-, in India.
