Earphones are much like many consumer electronics - they need to be capable of multitasking. Examining the evolution of headphones is quite exciting. From mere personal audio listening devices to ones answering phone calls and facilitating online chatting along with providing great music delivery, there are quite a lot of expectations an in-ear or over-the-ear pair of headphones needs to live up to.
While outdoor and sports earphones have technologies to safeguard from water and sweat, headphones for the regular folk need technology too, to facilitate multitasking, ward-off external sounds through noise cancellation and provide hours of comfortable enjoyment for the ears. That’s plenty to ask, but since 1946 Paul Klipsch had been pushing the boundaries in the field of consumer music entertainment. The Klipsch Company is now continuing in the same tradition, producing premium products that have won many fans including one Mr. Lou Reed!
Klipsch has announced the Lou Reed X10i Signature Edition headphones. As you’d have guessed, these have been launched in the name of Lou Reed who has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. These headphones are reportedly signed by Reed himself.
This is the customized version of the X10i headphones which Reed himself claims to have been a fan of. The new launch also clubs with the Reed’s release of his latest collaborative work with Metallica, the album Lulu. Music lovers with a desire for multitasking have been kept in mind while designing these special edition headphones. You can handle calls and browse through playlists on your iPad, iPhone or iPod thanks to the remote offered, on which you’ll find Lou Reed’s signature. The other main feature of these Klipsch Lou Reed X10i headphones is the echo cancellation microphone that enables your phone conversations to have a distinct clarity.
You’ll find the characteristic oval ear tips that have been patented by Klipsch and which you’ll also find in the standard Image X10i. The oval shape has been claimed by the company to provide greater comfort in extended use, as it doesn’t put enough stress within your ear’s pressure points and instead distributes the pressure thanks to the shape matching your ear’s natural contours. These ear tips are also soft for total comfort. They’re equipped with high tech noise isolation technology and also offer great bass. Lou Reed has himself recommended these Klipsch X10i Signature Edition headphones.
The Klipsch Lou Reed Signature Edition X10i headphones are priced at around Rs. 20,269 and will go on sale from December 1, 2011 internationally, though it isn’t known whether the product will be shipped to India. It would involve additional costs. Anyway, if you’re among first 50 customers to pre-order from Klipsch.com you will get a free signed copy of Reed’s new “Lulu” album. The regular Image X10i headphones are priced at premium tag of around Rs. 15, 000 and more.
