Microsoft updates Xbox Music Entertainment Services and SmartGlass 'second screen' App

Microsoft announced few updates for its Xbox Music app on Windows 8 with full Smart Glass Support. A new set of services have been brought in as part of this update which can work optimally across three screens, that of PC, smartphone and TV. The new Music app with Smart Glass support will be implemented inside the ‘Games’ segment of Windows 8 and Windows RT devices. This makes the app to work simultaneously with Xbox Music. The app can also be used as a remote for playing and controlling the content streaming on Xbox 360. 

Talking about the new feature of Smart Glass support, sources confirmed that it can be used as an extension of content viewed on the main screen. This means users will be able to identify the characters and will also be able to gather additional information on the secondary screen available. It can either be a tablet or smartphone depending up on the availability of the device among users.

Other key advantages of updated Xbox Music app with Smart Glass support is the enhanced game control options provided along with it. Some of the control options available: 

Internet Explorer browser in Xbox can also be controlled by users through this app.

It allows users to use the smartphone keyboard for providing input.

The app then also converts pinch-to-zoom gestures performed on the smartphone or tablet on to a larger canvas. 

Microsoft earlier displayed Smart Glass stating it would transform the gaming console in to the entertainment hub of the living room. Microsoft has come with the announcement of Xbox Smart Glass going Live at a time when Windows 8 tablets are expected to be released by October 26. Users can now use their smartphone or tablet touch screen for controlling the Xbox 360 and the devices can be further used for pausing, rewinding or advanced entertainment.
