Finally Apple's hottest selling touch-screen media player iPod Touch has got one of the biggest rival in the battle arena. Yes, the guess is right! The talk is about the newly launch Galaxy Player 5.8 by the South Korean giant ahead of IFA 2012. Samsung has finally took the wraps of its beefy media player which sports a massive 5.8-inch screen with a resolution of 960x540-pixels and makes even the Galaxy Note seem small, according to SlashGear reports.
As far as other hefty specs of the media player is concerned, the Samsung Galaxy Player 5.8 will come flavored by Android Ice Cream Sandwich, with Samsung's own TouchWiz UI on top.
Further, the device will come loaded with 2500mAh battery which should ensure that heavy video use is possible, it will also have a microSD card slot for storage expansion and a VGA camera and will hit the retail shelves in two variants including 16 and 32 GB internal memory capacity.
There will be also features like AllShare Play streaming support and Samsung’s own Chat messenger service present in the media player including common connectivity features like WiFi b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS.
While, besides that Samsung has not outed any else information about Galaxy Player 5,8 related to pricing and availability.
However, reportedly, Samsung officials have informed that the new Galaxy Player 5.8 will go on sale in September. Analysts are predicting to get more details on the massive media player at IFA 2012 this week.
Apple iPod Touch
At the same time, reports are rife that Apple's next-generation iPod Touch is also on the way. Recently, reports leaked some pictures of the new cases, of what they called to be the rear of the iPod touch 5G, and there seems to be a very noticeable change with the tapered edges, when compared to the last generation. The changes included increased memory storage, better CPU and a camera inclusion. It is also expected that 5G iPod touch will feature an LED flash for taking photos in low light.
