Xiaomi Mi Pad which got unveiled in India last year has now made an entry into the market as far as the availability is concerned. The budget tablet competitor against Apple iPad mini is priced at Rs 12,999 and will be online on Flipkart from March 24th.
Released alongside the Redmi 2, at an event in New Delhi, the device has a 7.9" screen with Gorilla Glass 3 protection. Under the hood, the Mi Pad has a 2.2GHz quad-core Tegra K1 processor coupled with 2GB RAM.
Further, Mi Pad has a 16GB on board storage. The rear has an 8MP snapper with Sony's lens while the front-facing shooter is a 5MP. This is probably the strongest point of the Mi Pad. While the Apple iPad is priced at Rs. 28,900 the Mi Pad costs lesser than even half that price tag on that iPad.
Both the tablets have the same resolution display 1536x2048 with an aspect ratio of 4:3. Even if we peep into the intricacies the Mi Pad and the iPad mini 3 both have a pixel density of 324ppi.
The Apple iPad mini 3 again seems to be lacking in this segment if we are talking number of cores and on chip memory. While the Mi Pad is powered by Nvidia's quad-core Tegra K1 processor coupled with 2GB of RAM the iPad mini 3 has a 1.3GHz A7 dual-core processor paired with only 1GB of RAM.
Apple doesn't seem to be doing well in this segment either. The Apple iPad mini 3 has a 5MP rear shooter compared to the 8MP on the Mi Pad. When it comes to the front facing camera, the Mi Pad has a 5MP snapper comared to the meager 1.2MP snapper on the iPad mini 3.
The Mi Pad has this fabulous option of boosting up storage space by 128GB via external microSD slot wherein it has 16GB of in built memory. The iPad mini 3 on the other hand is available in 16GB, 32GB, 64GB and 128GB variants.
A lot of users are specific about the operating system and their purchase depends on the OS of the device. The Mi Pad is an Android based tablet and run on the latest version of Android 5.0 Lollipop. The iPad mini 3 on the other hand runs on iOS 8.2.
Both the tablets have huge battery capacities and have batteries well over 6000mAh. Even then the Mi Pad is again ahead in this segment as it has a 6,700mAh battery compared to the 6,470mAh battery on the iPad mini 3.
