Apple and Samsung Broke the Battery Deal: iPad and MacBook Will No Longer Come Powered by South Korean Giant's Batteries
There have been several rumors in the past regarding the strained relationship of Samsung with Apple. Some sources have even told that the South Korean giant had terminated the supply contract it had with Apple for the alleged 20% increase in the prices of processors that it had imposed.
The latest is regarding the sudden cut off battery supplies to Apple. China Business News reported that Samsung has halted the supply of iPad and MacBook Air batteries to Apple forcing the latter to turn to alternative manufacturers, Amperex technology Limited and Tianjin Lishen Battery.
Even in spite of the bitter rivalry that the two gadget giants have been waging both in courtrooms as well as the markets, both have completely denied the authenticity of the previous alleged reports. In fact, Tim Cook, CEO of Apple, had said very recently that Samsung was an important supply partner to Apple, and the status of this relationship will remain so in the near future.
Despite the rivalry and the face-off that the companies have in the court room and in the market, the fact remains that at this point of time, both companies need each other. Samsung has capacity that Apple lacks and Samsung has an attractive deal with Apple which it cannot break, proving that making drastic changes to their relationship is not beneficial or productive for either companies.
If the reported rumor is of the same lines as all the other ones that have been surfacing lately, one can be sure that the companies would soon come forward to express their denial of the allegation.
