Apple to unveil new iPod touch, nano and shuffle on September 12 alongside iPhone 5
In July, Apple was rumored to uncover its highly anticipated iPhone 5 alongside iPad Mini and the new iPad nano on September 12 and release them on September 21. Later, there were several reports from numerous sources indicating that the smaller iPad will be launched at a special event in October while iPhone 5 will be unwrapped on September 12.
Now, a recent 9to5Mac report suggests that the much rumored next iPhone will share the stage with new iPod on this Wednesday, the September 12. According to the report, the Cupertino based company will unveil a revamped version of iPod Shuffle, new iPad nano and new iPod touch.
When it comes to the next iPhone, there were many image and component leaks, giving the tech enthusiasts and tech gossipers and idea of what it will look like. But, only scarce information is available about the next generation iPod shuffle, iPod nano and iPod touch.
As the highly expected Apple event is only a couple of days ahead, iMore has reported that the new revamped version of iPod touch will have a 4 inch display as the new iPhone. However, it remains unclear if Apple will use the same panel or a cheaper non-IPS panel for the iPod touch.
Additionally, with the advanced Apple A5 processor in iPhone 4S, which was launched in 2011, there is an increased possibility for the revised iPod touch to feature the same processor under its hood. Further, according to the report, the iPod touch's entry-level configuration is speculated to have a iOS 6 out of the box, increased base storage option and a smaller dock connector. The new iPod touch could arrive with $299 and $399 price tags respectively.
Speaking about the iPod nano, the new version will have some internal and design changes and is rumored to have Wi-Fi connectivity. According to the report, the iPod nano will come in eight color options and will be priced slightly higher this year.
At the same time, the iPod shuffle 2012 model, which will be announced this week will also come in eight color options and it will not experience any major changes. Its price tag will also be around $49, its current price point.
To know more details of the new iPhone and iPod announcements, Apple fanboys need to wait until September 12.
