Asus kicks off its CES 2015 campaign in Las Vegas by introducing the successor of its most prominent series Zenfone. Asus unveiled its Zenfone 2 and also added that more variants with different displays will be released in the coming month. Asus's chairman also revealed, that they are now shipping over 1.5 million ZenFone smartphones a month.
Asus Zenfone 2 - Key Specifications
Asus Zenfone 2 sports a 5.5-inch IPS display with Full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels which translates 403 ppi, protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. Zenfone 2 will be released in a number of variants with different specifications. Coming to the mid-range it comes with 1.8GHz Intel Atom Z3560 quad-core 64-bit processor alongside 2GB of RAM and supports 16GB of internal storage which can be expandable via microSD card.
The flagship variant of Zenfone2 will feature 5.5-inch IPS display with Full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3 along with an anti-fingerprint coating that Asus says reduces friction by 30-percent.It is clocked at 2.3GHz Intel Atom Z3580 quad-core 64-bit processor alongside 4GB of RAM and supports 64GB of internal storage.
On the imaging front, it sports a 13MP rear camera with f/2.0-aperture, 5-element, auto-focus lens with dual-color Real Tone flash and 5MP front snapper f/2.0-aperture, wide-angle 85-degree lens with Selfie Panorama. Moving on to the software, it runs on Brand-new ASUS ZenUI with Android 5.0 Lollipop. The ZenUI are a number of new features including ZenMotion and SnapView. The ZenMotion is a set of touch gestures that provide easy access to frequently-used features such as One Hand mode or Do It Later. While the SnapView is a security feature that ensures privacy for apps, photos and files.
The device is powered by a 3000mAh lithium-polymer battery with fast-charging technology, which should recharge up to 60% of its capacity in 39 minutes.
Zenfone 2 carries a dimension of 152.5 x 77.2 x 10.9-3.9mm and weighs around 170grams. On the connectivity front, this dual-SIM smartphone supports 3.5mm audio jack, dual micro-SIM, micro USB (support OTG) 802.11ac, Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, GPS, 4G LTE connectivity. It supports sensors like Accelerometer, proximity, ambient-light, gyroscopic, digital compass and Hall-effect sensors.
Zenfone 2 will be available in the market from Q2 2015 in Osmium Black, Sheer Gold, Glacier Gray, Glamor Red and Ceramic White variant. Special Transfusion and Illusion back covers will also be available to change the style of the phone. It carries a price tag of affordable $199 (approx Rs 12,618).
