Garmin Introduces Voice Guidance in Punjabi, Tamil, Kannada, Telugu And Malayalam
Garmin Corporation, a unit of Garmin Ltd., the global leader in satellite navigation, recently announced the launch of voice guidance in five new Indian languages -- Punjabi, Tamil, Kannada, Telugu & Malyalam -- in all models above nüvi 1000 series and personal navigation devices (PNDs). Now driving on the roads would be easier than ever before.
Earlier voice guidance was available in Hindi and Indian accent English. This facility will be available in all models above nüvi 1000 series PNDs including nüvi 40 LM, nüvi 50 LM, nüvi 2465 LM and nüvi 2565 LM. “It has been done keeping in mind the growing Indian market for the Garmin devices.
We firmly believe that devices should be made to assist the people and what better way than to communicate in their own language and accent,” said Tony An, Garmin Asia Marketing Director. “Users will feel more confident being navigated in their own language. Garmin is trying to offer an easier solution to direct you to the final destination,” he adds.
Traditional navigation devices make it difficult to understand the street name or area because of in-built American accent, Garmin self-developed technology and was the first to implement Indian accent into devices. For Garmin Indian market is as important as other markets around the world.
“We enjoy 74% share in personal navigation devices in North America and around 38% share worldwide. We entered Indian market more than 15 years and since then have been able to have a good share in the growing GPS market here. We are confident of increasing the share because of the quality that we provide and with affordable devices in the market we will have edge over others too,” adds An.
It is the importance of Indian market that few months back Garmin introduced cost effective models in Indian market -- nüvi 40 LM and nüvi 50 LM. All the Garmin PNDs come with FREE lifetime map update, and latest in the series -- nüvi 40 LM and nüvi 50 LM – come with dual maps preloaded with NAVTEQ Indian maps and MalSing maps in Singapore/ Malaysia. It makes the Garmin products most capable navigators globally.
Garmin nüMaps lifetime helps in downloading the most up-to-date map information and the latest map covers over 4214 cities and 6.9 millions POIs (Point of Interests).
Garmin’s most recent displays span across several product segments:
Essential: The 5” nüvi 50LM and 4.3” nüvi 40LM is the perfect starting point for any journey, providing GPS navigation at its simplest with accurate turn-by-turn directions and spoken street names. These entry-level PNDs are budget-friendly and easy to use, making them a great solution for first-time drivers, students away at college, or as an extra navigator for the other family car.
Advanced: The 5” nüvi 2565LM present GPS and Driving Recorder integrated design. The compatible Driving Recorder lowers space between windshield and interior, reducing driving blind side. What makes it even better, nüvi 2565LM supports Reverse Camera video in and it proves itself not just a GPS but giving you a brand new navigation experience. The nüvi 2465LM features a 4.3” touchscreen.
