GPS tracking device made mandatory for Gurgaon cabs

Gurgaon, Dec 9 (IANS) The Haryana Police have issued fresh orders making installation of global positioning system (GPS) device mandatory on every vehicle ferrying workers from call centres and other offices, police said Tuesday.

 

In view of the recent rape of a woman in a taxi in Delhi, the Haryana Police have invoked section 144 of CrPc for getting GPS devices installed on cabs and taxies.

The police have also ordered fresh verification of all drivers and display of all information on drivers inside the cabs and vehicles.

Vinod Kaushik, Gurgaon's deputy commissioner of police (traffic) has issued the fresh guidelines.

There are hundreds of BPOs and call centres and other companies in the city where thousands of women employees work.
