Intel Corporation has announced yesterday the availability of its latest mobile platform that is based on the Intel Atom processor. The platform is named Cedar Trail and it is designed to be compact, small and make on the go computing affordable with great battery power.
This latest mobile platform provides many features to the netbook computers that are made quite popular by the families, students and those seeking for basic productivity with internet browsing feature. These devices will be made available in the 2012 from major manufacturers like Toshiba, Samsung, Lenovo, HP, Asus and Acer.
The dedicated media engine plays the 1080p high definition videos and Blu-ray content as well. It also includes the additional digital display and the other output options like DisplayPort and HDMI. The Intel GMI 3600/3650 that is integrated with the memory controller offers enhanced performance as well as system responsiveness like improving the graphics performance by about 2 times when compared to that offered by the previous generation one.
The systems that are based on the new platform are expected to have a battery life of about 10 hours and almost weeks of standby time. The processor and the overall system performance will reduce the power consumption by about 20% when compared with the earlier one.
