Internet the main platform for extremism says study
According to a latest study, most of the extremist activities taking place across the world develop through the internet. This is very shocking since the internet which is supposed to be a constructive medium is losing it's sheen and is being converted into an idea exchanging place for destructive activities.
This has become the latest trend in most of the countries in the world and is growing at an alarming rate. The study has also found out that the internet has surpassed various universities, colleges across the world and as emerged as the leading platform for extremist ideas exchange. Terrorist outfits are actively using the internet as a medium through which they can develop new destructive ideas and spread their propaganda to others as well. According to an earlier study, terrorist propaganda was mostly done in various places of worship across the world, but now due to enhanced patrolling in these places, the internet has become a safe haven for extremist propaganda
Experts also call the internet as “ Platform for Extremist Ideology Exchange” and slam this destructive trend. The study also states that even individuals apart from terrorist groups use the internet to spread anti socialist ideologies.
Experts have called for strict monitoring of the internet content and developing of a code that leads to elimination of such anti-socialist content from the internet. In reply, various Governments across the world have vowed to keep a strict tab on internet hate propaganda and have pledged to take effective steps to monitor such content and thereby ensure that anti-social, extremists are brought to book. Thus considering all the above, one question that crops up in everyone's mind is ”What has become of the internet today?”. Share your views in our comment section below.
