LG Shows Off 18-Inch Flexible OLED Display Prototype
Breaking all possible boundaries and conventions in technology and innovation, as per the reccent reports coming in, today LG has announced its first prototype of roll-able display, which is also transparent.
The innovation that we are talking about is something that will revolutionize the technologies used in the TVs so far. Showing off its 18-inch flexible OLED ( organic light-emitting diodes) panel that is roll-able as well as a 18-inch transparent OLED panel, LG has by all means attracted all eyes from the tech communities from around the world.
It's not been long ago that the curved UHD TVs made it to the market and here we see a new display technology technology unveiled today. Talking about the display, the flexible OLED panel has a 1200x810 pixel resolution and the panel can be rolled up to a radius of 3cm without affecting the function of the display.

LG says that this indicates that the company can bring rollable TVs of more than 50 inches to the market in the future.In-Byung Kang, senior vice president and head of the R&D centre at LG Display, said, "We are confident that by 2017, we will successfully develop an Ultra HD flexible and transparent OLED panel of more than 60 inches."
Thus, we can expect a rollable TV sets larger than 50 inches soon from LG. Moreover, trying to master in OLED displays. LG Display has been investing heavily in it. Just last year LG announced its plans to spend $655 million on manufacturing infrastructure for a factory in South Korea.
It's not just the TVs that the new displays can be integrated to but also in smartphones. In the past, we have already seen LG using the curved display in its LG G Flex smartphone.
With this latest announcement from LG, Samsung might be burning green with enviousness as the tech titan also has a range of curved displays TVs and smartphones but not a rollable one though.
