Microsoft People Sense: A Location Sharing App Under Development [Report]

According to a new report by a Spanish site, Microsoft Place, Redmond giant Microsoft, is now working on a new app called People Sense .This app will let you know the real time location of the contact you follow, and it also provides detailed directions to contacts locations, with messaging and calling feature integrated in it. The People Sense app is similar to the Apple's Find my friends app which allows users to reveal real-time location of selected contacts.

Currently, the app is dubbed as Buddy Aware, it is expected to come with Bing maps. Although there are similar third party applications, none offer a level similar to the proposed Microsoft integration.

The features included are:

  • Share your location in real time with your contacts.
  • Integrated messaging and calling application.
  • Integration with navigation applications step by step drawing paths to your contacts.
  • Integration with your favorite places to show like "home" or "work"
  • New features to be added before leaving the store.

If the rumors turns out to be true, this People Sense app, in future may replace Microsoft "Rooms" app on Windows Phones, where the company itself planning to delete it in March. Microsoft had added this Room feature to Windows Phone 8 almost two years ago. This feature allows users to chat and share data with their family and friends in a virtual room.

Anyhow the leak build is dated February 17, which means, this app is still under the development and testing stage. This app does not comes with notification alerts, when a following contact is nearby, it may be added in the future. As of now, there is no official words on the release of this app, we are expecting more information in the upcoming days.
