Soon, You'll Be Able To Send Money Through Facebook Messenger
As we have seen that Apple has got its hand on its own payment method, Facebook Messenger the social networking app on Tuesday added a feature to its chat service, giving users what it says is a convenient and secure way to send and receive money.
Once users have installed the new payment function, U.S. users can simply start a conversation with a friend, tap the "$" icon, and enter the amount they want to send. Click "Pay" in the top right and add your debit card details to complete the transaction.
If you're on the receiving end of the deal, just open the message, tap "Add Card" to insert your payment information, and accept the money. Your first Messenger dealings will require a Visa or MasterCard debit card issued by a U.S. bank to your account, as well as a PIN to provide additional security. Apple iPhone users can enable Touch ID for ease of use.
Facebook also offers additional layers of authentication, which can be added at any time.
Transfers are made immediately. Though as with other deposits, funds may take up to three business days to become available, depending on your bank. Facebook already processes more than 1 million transactions daily and handles all payments processed on Messenger, the company said.

"Incorporating security best practices into our payments business has already been a top priority," Facebook said. "We use secure systems that encrypt the connection between you and Facebook as well as your card information when you ask us to store it for you.
"We use layers of software and hardware protection that meet the highest industry standards. These payment systems are kept in a secured environment that is separate from other parts of the Facebook network and that receive additional monitoring and control." A team of anti-fraud specialists even monitors the system for suspicious purchasing activity, promising extra measures to keep accounts safe.
