Samsung Galaxy S2 gets Android 4.0.4 ICS update

Samsung has rolled out the Android 4.0.4 ICS update to the Samsung Galaxy S2 smartphone. This update adds a list of new performance and stability related fixes to the Android ICS platform that was rolled out to the smartphone in month May 2012.

This is an incremental update that takes the Galaxy S2 smartphone from Android 4.0.3 to 4.0.4. The previous update caused some minor performance and stability issues in the device. This update will answer all these issues.

Not only the Galaxy S2 but even the Galaxy Note will receive the Android 4.0.4 ICS update. The phablet will get new features like Signature unlock and Video Pop up. Unfortunately, the Galaxy S2 is not getting these new features through the operating update.

The update is now available to the SIM free or the network locked handsets initially. It will be making its way to the Galaxy S2 smartphones that are operator locked soon. It is a global update and it will be rolled out gradually. Initially, Russia is getting the update and India will receive it in the coming days.

The Android ICS 4.0.4 update is available over the air and it can be downloaded through the Samsung Kies desktop. Those who cannot wait to have the upgrade can grab a copy of the firmware.
