Previously, Gizbot told you that the Skype app will be made available for BlackBerry 10 devices starting with Q10 and later on to Z10. Although the Qqwerty Keyboard smartphone, Q10 is to be made available in Canada on May 1s,t, it has already been made available in the UK. Simultaneously the preview version of the Skype app has also been made available for the Q10 users on the on BlackBerry World.
Skype app automatically imports your Skype contacts to your BlackBerry phone book, when you sign in. It also makes full use of BlackBerry Hub (unified communications app) for displaying chat requests, file transfers, and friend requests.
You can now make free voice/ video calls and send messages to anyone who is on Skype, whether they're on BlackBerry, Android, iPhone, Windows Phone, Mac or PC. Back in February, Skype in a blog post said, the app for BlackBerry 10 will not be a native one, rather it will be a port of it's Android application.
The Canadian company will be releasing a new update to the BlackBerry 10 operating system, which is said to bring improvements for the camera, contact and notifications and also support for the Skype app. The update is to be made available in the coming weeks. Anyways, the preview app is said to be laggy and the company has warned users that the app experiences are not yet final.
