Acer C720P: Affordable Touchscreen Chromebook Launched

The Taiwanese vendor today announced its first touch screen Chromebook to challenge Windows 8 powered notebook computers. This is for the first time when Acer in association with Google launched a touch screen Chromebook at a price point of $299, which should be around Rs18,684 in Indian Rupees.

Before Acer, Google released the Chromebook Pixel at a whopping $1,200(Rs. 74,748). Industry analysts had been saying that more OEM partners would be seen unveiling affordable touch screen Chromebook computers later this year.

The Acer Chromebook C720P touch screen notebook has an 11.6-inch display having a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels. The touch screen display helps consumers to interact in a more personal way.

The ultra light weight Chromebook is capable enough to run up to 7 hours on a single charge. The device will be seen running the Intel Celeron 2599U processor based on the Haswell architecture. There's 2GB of DDR3 RAM and 32GB of SSD storage that help to boot the machine in less than 7 seconds. The notebook weighs 1.36Kilograms.

Other connectivity features include: Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n, USB 3.0, USB 2.0, HDMI connectivity, and finally HD webcam, among other features.

With every purchase of Acer Chromebook C720P touch screen computer, users will get free 100GB of free Google Drive storage for 2 years, and 12 free Gogo Inflight passes.

Few days back, the company launched the Acer C720 Chromebook without a touch screen. Both computer devices have similar internal hardware, while the Acer C720P features a new age touch display.

The Acer Chromebook C720P will be made available in the US next month. Acer hasn't shared the plans to release touch screen Chromebook in India. Google and its trusted OEM partners (Acer and HP) recently introduced Chromebook notebooks in the Indian market. Acer C720 Chromebook is now available at a price point of Rs. 21,990, whereas the new 14-inch Chromebook from HP can be purchased for Rs. 26,990.
