Amazon New Kindle Fire HD, HDX 7 and HDX 8.9 Tablets Announced
Amazon has been making a remarkable progress in the tablet arena and now the company, popular for it's Kindle range of tablets, have introduced its new generation devices called Kindle Fire HDX. Moreover, the company has created a two variants of the tablet one with 7 inch display and another with 8.9 inch. In addition the company also announced its new Kindle Fire HD with 7 inch display. The updated Kindle Fire HD comes with a slimmer profile and lesser price compared to it's original one which was launched last year.
Lets have a look at the specs of the three tables individually:
Kindle Fire HD
Costing $139 (approx. Rs. 8,708), this tablet features a slimmer and lighter form factor and comes with a resolution of 1280 x 800 and 216 ppi HD display. It is powered by a dual-core 1.5GHz processor which is said to offer 60% additional performance compared to its previous generation. Moreover, it also features the all new Fire OS 3.0 "Mojito", dual speakers with Dolby audio. The device can also use Amazon's exclusive features such as Prime Instant Video downloads, Second Screen, Kindle FreeTime, and X-Ray among others. The battery is said to offer 10 hours mixed usage to the device.
Kindle Fire HDX 7 and 8.9
The Kindle Fire HDX comes in 7-inch and 8.9-inch variants and will feature a higher resolution display and faster 2.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor with 2GB of RAM. Amazon claims the 8.9-inch HDX is 34 percent lighter than the previous generation. Amazon has incorporated the new Fire OS 3.0 ‘Mojito' in all the three devices. The company says that the OS adds new features and provides smoother performance.
Kindle Fire HDX 7 sports a 7-inch display offering a resolution of 1920×1200 pixels and 323ppi pixel density. Both devices feature dual-band Wi-Fi, front-facing HD camera and dual stereo speakers with Dolby audio. The HDX devices come in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB variants. Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 comes with a larger display at 8.9-inch providing a resolution of 2560×1600 pixels and 339ppi pixel density. It comes loaded with 8-megapixel rear camera. The pricing for 8.9 inch starts at $379 (approx. Rs. 23,744) and 7 inch at $229 (approx. Rs. 14,346) in the US depending on the storage capacity. All the devices are available in the US Amazon stores.
The only differences one can find in the two latest HDX tablets are the display and the camera. The 7 Inch HDX doesn't come with a rear camera. Everything remains the same. But Amazon has not announced pricing and availability of the new line up of Kindle tablets in India as of now.
