While Apple happens to be masterful at designing and delivering high quality hardware, it isn't very good at keeping a secret. GizBot has picked up leaked pictures of the the Cupertino-based company's upcoming iPad 5.
The high-resolution images from Sony Dickson depict the next generation iPad in a space gray color, one of the colors introduced with the iPhone 5S in September. They show that the upcoming iPad 5 has borrowed the thin design scheme on its smaller sibling, the iPad Mini. Scroll down to the slider below to check the tablet out in various angles.
Previously, SonyDickson leaked images of the iPad 5 in both silver and space gray. Given his track record with releasing leaked images of Apple products, we can be quite sure that this is exactly what the upcoming iPad 5 will look like.
From all the leaks that have hit the Internet so far, Gizbot has gathered that the iPad 5 is likely to be 2mm shorter and 15mm narrower than its predecessor, apart from being significantly lighter.
Unofficial reports have it that Apple will be hosting an even on October 22nd at which it will launch the next generation of iPads along with a new range of MacBook Pros.
The new iterations of the iPad will face some serious competition upon launch from dozens of other slates that have hit markets over the last few months. Strong rivals include the Nexus 7 2013 edition, which has the best screen in the 7-8-inch segment, the LG Gpad 8.3 which has been designed specifically to the rival iPad, the latest Asus FonePad and Samsung's Galaxy Note 10.1 (2013 edition)
The images indicate that the iPad 5 will borrow the slim and sleek form factor seen on its smaller sibling, the iPad Mini.
The slate's space gray color was first introduced with the iPhone 5S. We expect the slate to launch with Space gray, White And Champagne Gold Color Options.
Apple's given the rear of the device a super smooth texture this time on. Gizbot expects that it will feel soft and smooth, while offering a sturdy grip.
This time on, the next generation of iPads will house better imaging systems than the previous ones. According to previous leaks, the iPad 5 will feature an 8MP rear camera along with a 2MP front camera.
Processor And Display
Processor And Display
The new iPad 5 will use a more powerful iteration of the A7 chip which will help run its powerful retina display. It is also expected to feature the new M7 chip, which is a motion co-processor that is inside the latest iPhone.
The older iPad 4 weighs 1.46 pounds and the iPad Mini weighs 0.69 pounds. Analysts believe that Apple will try to reduce that gap by making the iPad 5 significantly lighter.
These's speculation that a wireless charging feature will be released with the new iPad 5. Why? Because Apple filed a patent in September 2011 for such a feature and it is beleived that the iPad 5 will be the first slate from Apple to flaunt the feature.
