Apple October 22 Launch Event: iPad 5, iPad Mini 2 Coming Along With Updated MacBook Pro
It's official! Apple has sent out invitations for an October 22 event, marking the launch of the much awaited, next-generation iPads. The event will take place at San Francisco's Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Theater.
In true Apple's style, the invite reads "We still have a lot to cover ". The invite shows off an image of half Apple logo, with colorful leaves segregated above it. Last year, Apple refreshed the iPad 4 and iPad Mini during October 2012.
Earlier this year, the Cupertino-based company revealed the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C. There are speculations which say that Apple is indeed coming up with an upgraded iPad 5, and most importantly the event will mark the coming of iPad Mini 2 with Retina Display. However, according to new reports that surfaced recently, the iPad Mini 2 won't have a HD display. Instead, the new version is expected to be just another minor upgrade.
Beyond the iPads, we can expect new MacBook Pro with Intel's latest Haswell processor, updated Apple TVs, OS X Mavericks and a refreshed Mac Mini. Well, Apple could announce its long rumored Apple iTV, a giant 4K TV set. To beat the competition, the iPod maker might tease their next big product: an iWatch. It is largely believed that Apple is also working on a 12.9-inch iPad, dubbed as iPad Maxi.
Though there is a little chance that we might see this device unveiled on October 22. Since Apple is so unpredictable, we could expect the official unveiling of iPad Maxi on Tuesday's special event.
Last but not the last, how can we forget to include the new iPods. Apple will probably try to launch a new line up of dying iPods. No one seems to be crazy about Apple's mp3 players these days but a device like the iPod Touch is still quite popular on Amazon.com.
On October 22, Nokia is also expected to announce its first Windows RT 8.1 powered tablet at an event to be held in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The supposed Lumia 2520 is said to have a 10.1-inch FHD display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 SoC, 2GB RAM, 16/32GB ROM ( expandable) , 6.7MP PureView camera and 4G LTE connectivity. The pricing is expected to be at par with forthcoming iPad 5 - $499 (Rs 31,400).
