Asus MeMo Pad ME 172V Official at Rs 9999: 7-inch LED, 1GHz VIA WM8950 CPU, Android Jelly Bean 4.1

GizBot was aware long time back that Asus is indeed going to launch their latest budget tablet on February 27 in India. Well, the report has come out to be true as the Taiwanese giant has unleashed the MeMo Pad ME 172V in the market today. Previously, our sources also dished out expected price of the Asus MeMo Pad ME 172V, which was informed to be under Rs10,000. Well, that has been proved as well, Asus has kept the price of the tablet minimal at Rs 9,999.

Aiming at the budget sensitive market Asus MeMo Pad ME 172V will be noted as the second tablet launched in India by a recognized player known in international circuit. Firstly, it was Acer, the tech firm launched Iconia B1 recently in the native market last month at a price of Rs.7,999.

Asus MeMo Pad ME 172V Now Official at Rs 9999

Since, now the Android running MeMo Pad ME 172V tablet is official and it will need to fight tough with plethora of India-based tablets from local manufacturers. Let's learn about the features of the above mentioned device.

Asus MeMo Pad ME 172V - Spec Sheet

The low priced tablet supports Google's latest Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean tablet boasts a 7-inch LED Backlight WSVGA display with resolution of 1024 X 600 pixels, 1GB RAM, 1GHz VIA WM8950 processor, 8GB of internal storage( expandable via micro SD card up to 32GB). Further, the tablet has no rear camera however, only a 1-mega pixel front facing camera for long video chat. Other features include, Wi-Fi, WLAN 802.11 b/g/[email protected], 7 hours; 16Wh 4325mAh Battery. All fitted in the dimension of 96.2 x 119.2 x 11.2 mm and weight of 358 grams.

The Asus made tablet will be available in three glossy colors: Titanium Grey, Sugar White and Cherry Pink. Unfortunately, no 3G connectivity has been given by the manufacturer. The device also comes bundled with selected apps from Asus.

Competition Check

It's a welcome change in the Asus pricing structure. The Asus MeMo Pad is the cheapest tablet manufactured by the Taiwanese giant. If you look at the price of MeMo Pad 7, it costs Rs.2000 more than its nearest rival (in terms of specs) - Acer Iconia B1.

Going by the specs of Iconia B1 , the devices comes with a 7-inch display with a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels, 512MB of RAM, 8GB of internal memory( expandable) , clunky plastic body , no rear camera but added front facing camera , Wi-Fi , No 3G connectivity, 1GHz dual core processor and 2710mAh battery. So, Asus made tablet has better build quality - thanks to rubbery finish given at the back (similar to Nexus 7) and better embedded battery.

Both devices come without 3G connectivity. Asus says that their 7-inch tablet can survive up to 7 hours.

It would be great to pit the Asus MeMo Pad against Iconia B1 to check processing power. The Asus made 7-inch tablet comes with 1-Ghz single core processor whereas at paying Rs.7999 for the Acer Iconia B1, you will get better processing power. Watch this space for more.
