Asus Memo Pad 10 Leaks Via Press Shots: The Most Capable Rival to Nexus 10?

Asus has been an important player in the tablet arena across the world since the launch of Google Nexus 7. Now, the Taiwanese PC manufacturer is making round in the tech media world for its rumored $99 tablet for quite sometime.

These days, the company is scarcely rumored of its budget-friendly Memo Pad, which is yet to be confirmed by Asus. After a month's time, the 10 inch Android tablet offering from the Taiwanese tech giant has resurfaced online with leaked press shots and a new name.

The tablet claimed to be dubbed as MeMo Pad 10 appears to be similar to the ME301T, which was leaked earlier. The latest leak comes in the for of an unboxing video and a few press shots alongside some retail product listings. The images show the tablet in two color options - white and blue.

According to the report, Asus MeMo Pad 10 sports a 10.1 inch display with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, Nvidia Tegra 3 processor, 1GB RAM, 16GB built-in storage, micro SD card slot for expandable memory support, two cameras, stereo speakers, micro USB, microHDMI port and Wi-Fi.

Going by earlier reports, MeMo Pad 10 will be priced less than $400 (approx. Rs 21,000), however, there is no official word from Asus confirming the specs and price of MeMo Pad 10.

MeMo Pad 10 - Nexus 10 Rival?

From the rumored specs and estimated pricing, it can be said that the 10 inch Asus offering could be tough challenger to Nexus 10.

When it comes to specs, Nexus 10 features a 10.1 inch display with a resolution of 1560 x 1600 pixels and 300 ppi pixel density. Also, Nexus 10 houses a 1.7GHz A15 dual-core processor, Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, 5MP rear camera, 1.3MP front camera, 16GB and 32GB internal storage options, 2GB RAM, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, micro USB, micro HDMI, dual side NFC, GPS+Glonass connectivity features and and a 9,000 mAh Li-ion battery offering up to 9 hours video playback and 500 hours standby.

On the pricing front, Nexus 10 16GB variant is priced at $399 (approx. Rs 21,000).

Hence, with better display resolution, faster processor and Android 4.2 OS, Nexus 10 could be a challenger to MeMo Pad 10, however, the latter comes with micro SD card slot for expandable memory option and is claimed to be priced lesser than the Google offering.
