Dell Venue 8 7840: Worlds Thinnest Tablet On Sale

Dell along with Intel had annouced the venue 8 7000 series Android tablet last year as the worlds thinnest tablet. As further development had been carried out the world's thinnest tablet is now at 6mm, the Dell Venue 8 7840 tablet is available.

The Dell Venue 8 7840 runs Android 4.4 KitKat and features an 8.4-inch Quad-HD (2560x1600) OLED display. It sports a quad-core Intel Atom Z3500 series SoC, clocked at 2.3GHz, alongside a PowerVR G6430 GPU and 2GB of RAM. It packs an 8-megapixel rear camera and a front 2-megpixel shooter. The 16GB of built-in storage on the Dell Venue 8 is expandable via microSD card. Connectivity options include the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

The Venue 8 7840 is packed with the Intel RealSense '3D snapshot' photography solution that creates a high-definition depth map to enable measurement, refocus and selective filters with a touch of a finger. Apart from the Wi-Fi variant of the tablet, an SKU with the Intel XMM 7260 LTE modem inside capable of reaching LTE speeds up to 300Mbps was also detailed to be available.

The series is now available for sale in the US, named as Dell Venue 8 7840 at $399.99 (approximately Rs 24,500).
