Exclusive: Xolo Planning To Launch A Windows 8 Tablet in India Soon
The Windows OS based tablets haven't been so successful until now, mainly due to high-cost of development and lack of interest shown by leading OEM partners. At the same time, tablets based on Android and iOS continue to dominate the market. In the coming days, Microsoft's market share in the tablet space is expected to see a boost, primarily due to affordable pricing options, and more options to choose from.
India, one of the fastest growing tablet markets, could be the center of attraction, anything if development of Windows-based tablet is concerned. Just like Android-based tablets and handsets proliferated in India, Windows-powered tablets might get a huge boost in sales. The other day GizBot informed you that Nokia might be planning to launch its 10.1-inch Lumia 2520 Windows RT tablet in India.
Now it appears that domestic handset manufacturer, Xolo, is gearing up to launch a 10.1-inch Windows-based tablet in the Indian market. Xolo have been launching Android-based tablets in India from the beginning. Recently, the company was in the limelight during the launch of Xolo Play Tegra Note, a 7-inch tablet powered by NVIDIA Tegra 4 processor.

Beyond making Android-powered tablets and handsets, Xolo seems interested in investing heavily in the development of Windows based devices. GizBot has learned about the exclusive details around Xolo's upcoming Windows-based tablet via the shipment notification from Zauba, which shows that a 10-inch Windows running tablet is enroute with a listed price of Rs 13,149.
In the past, a senior executive over at Xolo was quoted saying that the company might bring Windows running phones into India. Besides, the Windows Phone 8 based handset, Xolo is also expected to launch a 10-inch Windows running tablet.
According to a listing for the product on Zauba, XOLO Win 10.1 could be official name of the said tablet. Though, we're not sure about the official name. Further, the tablet might come powered by a 1GHz processor, backed by 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal memory under the hood. As many as 22 samples (strictly for testing) were imported from China to India on December 28, 2013.
No more information around the Xolo Win 10.1 tablet PC is available at the moment. While the specs appear to be above average, the success of the purported tablet will largely depend on its retail price.
