Flipkart Digiflip Pro XT911 Review: Testing the Industry, But Never Threatening
- Looks Professional
- Back Glass a Good Addition
- Good Processor
- Dated OS
- Camera Still Needs Work
- Quite Heavy to Carry Around
Flipkart is already known all over India due to the kind of name it has made for itself in the online retail business. However, the company seeks to achieve more going forward, and its newest Digiflip range of tablets are an example of that.
Flipkart isn't however the first of its kind in releasing a company branded tablet as players such as Amazon have already tried and tested that. We have seen the Kindle and Kindle Fire getting great response over time, and that strategy has attracted Flipkart in recent times.
The company had already made its intentions known in the device market when it released five different tablets at the same time back in August in partnership with Intel. All of the five tablets have an Intel Atom Processor and are under the company's Digiflip Pro branding. The tablets launched at that time include Digilip Pro XT911, Pro XT901, Pro XT811, Pro XT801 and Pro ET701.
But our concern at the moment is with the new Digiflip Pro XT911 that definitely looks better all the others that were released at the same time. We recently spent some time with the review unit for the same Flipkart sent us, and here's a full review on the same.
Flipkart Digiflip Pro XT911 Review: Form Factor and Operating System
The XT911 unit is the biggest tablet in this entire group of tablets that we just mentioned. And considerably heavy as well. It has an 8.9-inch screen with IPS Display and 1920×1200 full HD display.
However, as far as a price point of Rs 15,999 is concerned, this tablet is perhaps the only one that offers a full-HD screen with IPS, with a fairly big screen at 8.9-inches.
The tablet is currently available only in a white avatar for the time being, and that's the one the company sent us for reviewing. Apart from the largeness and heaviness of the tablet, it has a glass-covered back. And the smudges and fingerprints are quite noticeable if you take a closer look at a unit that has been used considerably.
The back glass casing for the tablet is still worth mentioning since it offers considerable protection with a hint of class also showcasing. But then again, that doesn't really take away that fact that it remains open to fingerprints and smudges from regular use. In fact, those smudges at times look quite prominent.
The tablet itself is as basic a model as it can be. There's the front facing camera on the top right-ish position of it. Apart from that, there are two external speakers that have been lodged both at the upper and bottom left of the tablet.
The upper part of the tablet also offers the 3.5mm headphone outlet and the USB charging point while the name of the tablet (alongside its detailed model number) can be found below on the right side of the bottom speaker.
On the right side, there are the volume rocker buttons, while the power button is placed just on its side. Beside it are the SD card slot and the SIM slot. On the back, there's the Digflip Pro branding and below it is the Intel Inside branding. There's also the primary camera at the back.
The tablet runs on the dated Android Jelly Bean 4.2.2 OS. However, the company has assured an upgrade to Android KitKat 4.4 in the future. But for the time being, you will get the Jelly Bean OS straight out of the box.
