Apple's dominance in the tablet market isn't anything new. Since the time the first iPad offering was brought to the light, the company hasn't looked back. Each year, the tablet offering gets bigger with more and more new features to play with. And now we await the upcoming iPad Air 2.
It doesn't take a genius to tell you that the upcoming iPad Air 2 is set to be the grand successor to the previously released iPad Air. Once the new tablet goes official, it will take over what is potentially one of the best tabs in the market that money can buy.
As far as a bit of background check is concerned, the name for the next iPad Air is expected to be iPad Air 2. Apart from that, it will actually be Apple's sixth generation full size tablet (basically maintaining the 9.7-inch form factor).
But before we start talking about the new iPad Air 2, it needs to be said that new iPad models are anyway heading to store shelves before the end of the year. And it also seems a safe assumption, keeping in mind Apple's trend of releasing new tabs each year.
To be perfectly honest, there's very little on the new iPad to tell you about right now. However, as always, there are several reports and leaks that have talked extensively about the new tablet and what it will bring to the table.
So here's a look at the top 5 rumors for the upcoming iPad Air 2 that you should know before the tablet goes official.
As far as the device design is concerned, reports have constantly claimed that the design of the new iPad Air will be similar to that of the original iPad Air. In fact, its screen is also said to stick to the previously offered resolution of 2048 x 1536. Apart from that, a previously leaked image of the new tab's front panel also pointed at integrated display into the panel.
Also, the new iPad Air is expected to arrive with an aluminum-made back, just like every other iPad before it. Interestingly enough, it also seems like the hardware mute switch is going to be dropped.
As we mentioned before, while there's very little to say about the iPad Air 2 as of now, but reports are claiming that Apple will not alter the size of the tablet's display. So you can still expect to see the same 9.7-inch form factor with the new tab. But as far as the device resolution is concerned, it just might get altered a bit. But chances are equally slim for that as well. Also, we are expecting some sort of new anti-scratch tech to be incorporated on the screen.
If going by what we have seen year after year with Apple products, the upcoming Apple iPad Air 2 should ship with the iOS 8 out of the box. The new iOS 8 brings a host new features, changes and fixes to the tablet the Apple will surely want its new tablet to feature. Also expect support for third-party widgets, keyboards and improved notification system with the new tablet running the iOS 8.
Taking all the little details revealed for the new tablet, the iPad Air 2 should come with a split screen feature. The importance of this is that the split screen feature will offers users the option to run multiple apps at the same time. The split screen feature was brought to the open by bits of code found in the system's beta version.
Apart from that, the tablet is expected sport an Apple A8 processor, as well as sporting an 8MP rear camera. Others have claimed that Apple will even take the Touch ID feature from the iPhone 5s and apply it for the new tablet. But more needs to be found out.
The big sequel to the previously released iPad Air is still awaiting a solid release date. But there's no reason to believe that the tablet won't arrive this year. If our guess on the matter is to be taken as a word, the iPad Air 2 will probably be announced this fall. Mostly between October and November. But the first week of November seem to be a more reliable thing to believe for the moment.
