iPad Mini Space Grey Images Leaked: What About Specs And Release Date?

French Blog, NoWhereElse, has now obtained a Space Gray unibody aluminum shell of an iPad Mini 2. Go through the pictures and you'll agree that the design of the tablet is in line with the scheme that we saw in the previous iPad leak earlier this week.

Unofficial reports say that Apple will go on to launch its new generation of iPads on October 15th in an official launch event. We're expecting to see two iPads on that day. The first being its full sized (9.7 inch) iPad 5 and a smaller iPad Mini 2.

The iPad Mini 2 won't be the first device from Apple's line up with the new color. Earlier this month, Apple introduced its iPhone 5S in Space Grey apart from Champagne and Silver options. Analysts are also speculating that the iPads will come out with these color options as well since we've already uncovered silver and grey iPads.

This leak doesn't come with any information on hardware since NWE got just the shell. However, we expect the iPad Mini to use a retina display for sure, allowing to offer some serious visual goodness. Also, this is the first time that the larger iPads will take design cues form the smaller iPad Mini.

The iPad Mini is expected to cannibalize sales of its larger sibling in big way since consumers now prefers smaller, sleeker products that can be used comfortably on the couch or while commuting. Upon its release, Apple's smaller tablet will have to take on several 7 and 8 inch tablets, namely the gorgeous new Nexus 7 (2013) and the upcoming power packed Tegra Note from Nvidia.

We weren't very happy with the texturing on the rear of the shell. While you might not find much to complain about, it isn't as pretty as Apple's other products.
