On Monday, a new tablet from Karbonn Mobiles was spotted online with a price tag of Rs 10,280. However, the device is yet to be officially released into the market.
As far as specs are concerned, Smart Tab 10 Cosmic features 9.7 inch capacitive touchscreen display with 1024 x 768 pixel resolution, 1.5GHz dual core processor, 1GB RAM, micro SD card slot for additional storage support up to 32GB, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, 2MP rear camera, VGA front camera for video calling, Wi-Fi, USB port, HDMI port, 3G via dongle and 6,000 mAh battery of undisclosed backup.
Earlier, Karbonn has launched a 9.7 inch tablet called Smart Tab 9 Marvel at Rs 7,990, but the device was based on Android 4.0 ICS and hence, Smart Tab 10 Cosmic is the first 10 inch Jelly Bean offering from the India based manufacturer.
However, the 10 inch Android tablet market segment in India has already witnessed several product launches with attractive price tags. Hence, below is a gallery showing the different 10 inch tablets with Android operating system.
Google Nexus 10
When it comes to Android Jelly Bean based 10 inch tablets, Nexus 10 launched in October and awaiting its Indian release is the first device that would come to the mind.
Nexus 10 features a 10.1 inch display with a resolution of 1560 x 1600 pixels and 300 ppi pixel density. Wicked Leak Wammy Athena
Wicked Leak, an India based low cost tablet vendor has launched a couple of Android Jelly Bean tablets in India at budget price tags - Wammy Desire and Wammy Athena.
Speaking of Wammy Athena, the tablet houses a 9.7 inch IPS capacitive 10 point touchscreen display with 1024 x 768 pixel resolution. It is equipped with a 1.5GHz dual core ARM Cortex A9 processor, 400 Mali Core GPU, 2MP rear camera, 2MP front camera, 16GB internal storage, 1GB RAM, micro SD card slot supporting up to 32GB expandable memory support, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, 3G through dongle and an 8,000 mAh Li-ion battery offering up to 6 hours backup.
Priced at Rs 13,999, Wammy Athena with IPS display, better front camera performance, increased internal storage support and an imrpoved battery backup could be stiff competitor to the Karbonn tablet.
Micromax Funbook Pro
Micromax the leading tablet vendor in India launched a 10.1 inch tablet in Q2 with a 10.1 inch display 1024 x 600 pixel resolution, Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system, 1.2GHz Cortex A8 processor, VGA front camera, 8GB flash memory, 1GB RAM, micro SD card slot, which supports expandable memory of up to 32GB, Wi-Fi, 3G through dongle and a 5,600 mAh Li-ion battery.
When it comes to the pricing, Funbook Pro is priced at Rs 9,999 and it could be a rival to the Karbonn offering with its slightly larger display and internal storage.

iBall launched its first dual-core and IPS display based tablet in India dubbed as iSlide 9702 bearing a price tag of Rs 14,999 in October. With impressive specs, the manufacturer has claimed that it is the most advanced tablet launched into the price-conscious Indian market so far.
Detailing on specs, iSlide i9702 sports a 9.7 inch IPS capacitive touchscreen display with 1024 x 768 pixel resolution, dual core 1.5GHz processor, Android ICS platform, 8GB internal storage, 1GB RAM, micro SD card slot supporting up to 32GB additional storage, 2MP front and rear camera, Wi-Fi, USB OTG, Host Port, HDMI port and an 8,000 mAh battery capable of offering up to 7 hours of backup.
iBall iSlide i9702 is priced at Rs 14,999, which is quite reasonable for its high-end specs like IPS display. With such a high price tag, iBall tablet could be a touch challenger for Karbonn Smart Tab 10 with its IPS display, improved front camera performance and powerful battery.
Zync Z1000 has a 9.7-inch 5-point multi-touch capacitive HD display with 1024 x 768 pixel resolution. This device can access the internet via 3G as well as Wi-Fi networks. Powered by a 1.5GHz processor, Zync Z100 runs on an ARM Cortex A8 processor coupled with 1GB RAM. The tablet has a front and rear camera of 0.3MP and 2.0MP resolution, respectively, and comes with 8GB onboard memory, which is expandable up to 32GB via micro SD card. The other features include 7,000mAh battery, mini HDMI and micro USB ports.
The 9.7 inch Zync tablet is based on Android 4.0 ICS platform and it is priced at Rs 11,000 and it could be a potential rival to the Jelly Bean based Karbonn tablet offering.
