The tablet was announced earlier this year at the MWC event and now it is now available for purchase at Lenovo's official website and Flipkart at Rs. 8,999 in Black color variant. Going by the specs, the latest tablet from Lenovo comes with the 7-inch capacitive multitouch LCD display offering the screen resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels.
The IdeaPad A1000 is powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core MediaTek MTK8317 processor and runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system. The tablet is also supported by 1GB DDR2 RAM and comes with an integrated graphics along with a 0.3MP (VGA) front-facing camera for video calling but no rear camera.
Connectivity options include SIM card slot with 2G data support and voice calling capabilities. It also supported with a 2G (EDGE), GPS, 3G (via Dongle), WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth, USB.
Further, the Lenovo tablet comes with a 4GB internal storage capacity that is expandable up to 32GB through microSD card and also has dual front-facing speakers that offers enhanced audio quality for music or movies featuring a Dolby Digital Plus support.
Also, the IdeaPad A1000 which is 10.7 mm thick and weighs 340 grams is powered by a 3500 mAh battery that gives up to 420 minutes of talk time.
Perhaps the tablet is likely to face a headed battle against several devices from domestic manufacturers like HCL, Micromax, Karbonn and others. However, most of the budget tablets come with an older version of Android and lesser RAM while the Lenovo offering has better specs and moreover, the price of the tablet is pretty much rated at the best range.
Still, tabs like iBall Performance Series, Swipe MTV Slash Tablet, Lava Z7C+, Micromax Funbook 3G P600 Tablet and Karbonn Smart A37 Tablet are likely to be the direct rivals to the Lenovo IdeaPad A1000 tablet. All come within the same price range and 7 inch voice calling facility as well.
