After the announcement of the only third and new-generation Galaxy Tab, namely the Tab 3 7.0, which is positioned as an affordable tablet, Samsung seems to be working really hard to get yet another similar tablet in the market but with 8 inch display.
The third generation of Samsung Galaxy Tab series so far had only one official member, Tab 3 7.0, but the rumors online suggests that there are 8 inch and 10.1 inch versions on the way. The Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 may have just shown up in GL Benchmark scores and also at the same time became the second one to join the third generation league.
SamMobile claims to have the full specification, which includes a general feature boost all round over the 7-inch version:
According to them, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 8 inch will come with a dual-core processor clocked to 1.5GHz and would be backed by 1.5 GB RAM. It is said to have an internal storage capacity of 16GB and can be expandable up to 64GB via external microSD. The tablet would feature 5 megapixel rear camera and 1.3 megapixel front facing camera. Regarding connectivity, it would house Bluetooth 4.0, 3G/WiFi. The tablet is said to be powered by a heavy 4,450 mAh battery.
Other reports also suggests that it would run on Android 4.2.2 with 1.5GHz processor with Mali-400 GPU. It is highly expected to have an Exynos chipset and there are no reasons to believe the TouchWiz user interface won't be present as well.
The screen is said to have the resolution that resembles to that of Note 8.0 which is 1280 x 800pixels which would provide the 8 inch screen with a pixel density of 189ppi.
Rumors further suggests that the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 would have a slender look with 209.6 x 112.1 x 6.95mm dimension and would weigh 330g.
Reportedly, according to the leaked timeline, the Wi-Fi only Tab 3 8.0 said to launch with 16GB of built-in storage in White in early June and the 3G version (again in White) coming in mid-June. Expectations are that shortly there should be a 10 inch Tab 3 after the 8 inch one.
Recently the Wi-Fi-only Galaxy Tab 8.0 (model number SM-T311) was seen at Bluetooth SIG, and now an SM-T315 has also been approved by the SIG. Since the SM-T310 is believed to be the 3G versions of the tablet, this SM-T315 is likely the LTE-capable model.
As for the tablet's availability and pricing the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 8 inch model may hit the stores around the first half of June.
