Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Neo Hands on And First Look: A Stylish Tab Which Lacks A Front Camera

|

Camera and Connectivity

The Galaxy Tab 3 Neo comes with a limited photography and imaging capability as it only features a rear shooter which comes with a 2MP sensor without a flash. It is annoying to have a tablet and not make a video conference calls. One would rather prefer to have a front facing shooter than a rear one. The features and effects in the camera app is quite basic which are all derived from the company's old generation tablets.

The Galaxy Tab 3 Neo comes in 2 variants, the 3G (HSPA+) and a WiFi Only model (WiFi b/g/n (2.4GHz). Other connectivity features are regular with the inclusion of WiFi Direct, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS + GLONASS but fails to have NFC.

Storage

Internal storage is one part where an eye of the consumer is always focused. Although it could be much to bargain on the 16 GB native storage at a given price of the tablet, it would have surely brought some balance between the 'no-front facing camera' and 'the 16 GB internal storage capacity'. However, the presence microSD card slot would allow the users to expand the storage capacity up to 32GB.

Battery

The Galaxy Tab 3 Neo comes with a 3,600mAh battery which is generous enough for a 7 inch slate. According to the company the battery has the capacity to give 8 hours of video play back which is modest enough. Looking at the price point at which the company is offering the device, it is quite moderate although it fails to meet the battery capacity of the original Tab 3 7 inch which features a 4,000 MAh battery.

Verdict

We cannot give a final verdict on Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Neo right now, as we need to review the device for a longer time. However, looking at the specs and the first hand experience of the demo piece, it looks like it could be a healthy budget tablet. Even with the Dual Core processor and 1 GB RAM, the device would rock in the Indian market, due to its impressive UI and Multi-window features. However, the missing front facing camera would be a major drawback for many.

Appearance-wise, its a sexy device which is being offered in multiple color variants. The textured rear panel in the device would just be proper toppings in a continental dessert. Obviously the price of the device would be the core element to inspire the consumers to but it.
