Back in June, Samsung introduced its next generation Galaxy Tab 3 series to the world which included 7-inch, 8-inch and 10.1-inch tablets packed with enhanced content and intuitive design for an enhanced user experience. While, the South Korean giant informed that the new Galaxy Tab 3 range would be available globally in the beginning of June 2013, the tablets have reach Indian boundaries today, that is, July 18.

While, the 10.1 inch tablet is missing in India, Samsung has launched their Galaxy Tab 3 for the native market in three variants including Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 211, 311 and 310. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 211 is a 7 inch which has been launched at a price of Rs 17,745. On the other hand, Galaxy Tab 3 311 is an 8 inch tablet prices at Rs 25,725 and lastly, Galaxy Tab 3 310 is the Wi-Fi only version of the 8 inch tab launched at Rs 24,945. All the three tablets will be available in the Indian market from this Sunday, that is, July 21.

Also the trio tablets will hit the market along with an introductory offer of 2GB per month data free for 2 months for Vodafone postpaid customers. Looking at the specifications and price of the tablets, it is obvious that Samsung has launched the new range to compete with the best selling tabs in the market right now including Google Nexus 7 and Apple iPad Mini. For now let's compare Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 211 7 inch with the Google Nexus 7 variants available in the market.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 211 7 inch vs Google Nexus 7

Going by the specs individually, the Galaxy Tab 3 is a regular 7-inch tablet offering a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels and 169 ppi pixel density. The tablet is powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core processor along with 1GB RAM and 8GB of internal memory which is expandable up to 32GB.

The tablet measures 9.9mm in terms of thickness and weighs 302grams. There's a 3-mega pixel camera given on the back and 1.9-mega pixel front facing camera on the front. The Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 comes with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean out of box and a 4,000mAh Li Ion battery. On the connectivity front, the Tab 3 features 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 3.0 and A-GPS and is priced at Rs. 17,745.

Contrastly, the Google Nexus 7 comes with the same 7 inch display but with a higher resolution of 1280x800 pixels and pixel density of 216ppi. The tablet has no rear camera, but only a 1.2MP front-facing camera.

Powered by 1.2 GHz NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processor and supported by 1 GB RAM, Nexus 7 runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth, NFC (Android Beam) and 4,325 mAh battery. The one with internal memory of 16 GB is priced at Rs. 15,999 and it is Wi-Fi only, whereas, the 3G variant has 32GB internal memory but it is priced at Rs 21,999.

Conclusion

When compared, the Nexus 7 is better off the Galaxy Tab 3 7 inch in terms of processor, internal storage, but if rear camera and making calls along with expandable storage is a concern for you then, Galaxy Tab 3 211 is the choice to make.
It comes with a better screen resolution, higher pixel density and better processor as well. Although the Nexus 7 is priced a little bit higher than the Tab 3 7 inch, but the buy is worth the money. Also, Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 range has been introduced equipped with Samsung's popular software features including Sound Alive for Audio and Dolby Surround for Video Play, S Translator, ChatON, S Travel, Story Album, Group Play and more.
