Sony Starts Rolling Out Android 4.4.4 Update for Xperia Z2 and Z2 Tablet

While most of the premium smarrphone makers are making plans of shifting gear from Android KitKat to Android L, Sony has just started rolling out the Android 4.4 update for its Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z2 tablet.

The Japanese premium smartphone maker has started rolling out a new Android 4.4 (v23.0.1.A.0.167) update for aforementioned devices. The update brings about features like the PS4 Remote Play along with Hi-Res audio playback on the Xperia Z2 devices.

Sony Starts Rolling Out Android 4.4.4 Update for Xperia Z2 and Z2 Tab

It should be noted that just last week Sony also released the PS4 Remote Play app on Google Play to support PS4 Remote Play capabilities on the Xperia Z3 series. The new features are now launched for the Xperia Z2 and Z2 tablet.
Among all the new features that the update brings, PS4 Remote Play support for Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z2 Tablet with full Dualshock 4 Wireless Controller compatibility is one of the important ones.

Other features include support for built-in (via 3.5mm audio jack) Hi-Res Audio playback from both PCM and DSD files, in addition to the USB Hi-Res playback.

Also Walkman app gets Sony's DSEE HX technology, enhancing the sound of MP3, AAC or Music Unlimited tunes and support for Xperia Camera apps, Sound Photo, AR fun, Multi camera and Face in will be packed in the update package.

Other goodies that would be offered in the update are the Ultra STAMINA Mode ( upgraded version of Stamina Mode), Bluetooth Unlock, which automatically unlocks them when they are in close proximity to Sony's SmartBand, SmartBand Talk, or SmartWatch 3.

The update also brings Faster Quick settings with Smart screen rotation, Record Screen option to record a video of what you're doing on-screen. The update is now rolling out for users globally.
