Sony Xperia Tablet Z: First Look
GizBot was invited by Sony India to attend the launch of blissful Xperia Tablet Z. The device indeed looks awesome. The tablet carries 10.1-inch HD display with resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels. It is powered by Mobile BRAVIA Engine 2. While playing with the tablet for few minutes, it is safe to say that the Xperia Tablet Z produces natural and vivid colors.
The viewing angles were great, if not the best. Sony claims the Xperia Tablet Z is the thinnest ever tablet produced ever at 6.9 mm, and its weighs 495 grams. Undoubtedly, the built quality is top notch. It feels great surely to hold a device like this. Samsung must learn from Sony when it comes to designing a tablet. But it was actually difficult to hold Xperia Z with one hand. When tried to type on the device; it was a disappointing experience. You will find it difficult if you are a reading person.
Next comes the processing part-the device uses 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor coupled with 2GB of RAM. Without any doubt, the device performs insanely fast. The tablet is stuffed with an 8-mega pixel rear facing camera (powered by Exmor R imaging technology) and 2.2-mega pixel front facing camera. Both cameras can be used to record Full HD 1080p videos. The integration between Xperia Z and the Sony Tablet Z, is no more difficult - thanks to Near Field Communication (NFC).
It also packs IR (Infra Red) blaster. Sony has bundled an app called Remote Control embedded in the device itself. It can be easily connected with your TV thus making the tablet as a virtual remote control. Another great feature of the tablet is that you can view up to four 720p HD videos at a same time.
The speaker quality is excellent because it is manufactured by Sony. There is an application called Sony LIV, which allows you to stream videos directly to your tablet. Sony Music is another app which gives you freedom to download legal music on your device. There is a Walkman app which needs no introduction. At the moment, the Xperia Tablet Z comes with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, but in future it is upgradable to v4.2.2 Jelly Bean.
The tablet features an FM radio app too. The manufacturer is giving 16GB of internal memory. But in reality only 9.26GB of user memory is available. You also get another 16GB in the form of external memory card. Available in Black colour only, the device costs you Rs. 46,990, in the Indian market. If you have money to purchase this very tablet then go for it. Stay tuned to GizBot for a detailed review.
