Xperia Tablet Z unleashed alongside the Xperia Z smartphone at CES 2013, has already been announced in India last month, and till now rumors had it that the device will hit the retail shelves globally in Q2 2013. However, according to the latest reports, Xperia Tablet Z has been confirmed by the Japanese giant to release during May end.
Earlier, reports stated that Sony's Xperia Tablet Z will hit stores in April.However, according to a report by XperiaBlog, Sony UK spokesperson "has confirmed that the Xperia Tablet Z will launch at the end of May."
"Sony says that this was always the intended launch date for the tablet, despite the website hinting at a mid-April release when the device first came up for pre-order. This was believed to be a glitch and all customers are being informed of the end-May launch date," said the report.
Xperia Tablet Z was earlier listed by Sony's UK site for pre-order. Both the 16GB and 32GB Wi-Fi variants of the tablet were informed to be shipped sometime between April 12 and April 15 and costs £399 (approx. Rs 33,000) and £449 (approx. Rs 37,000) respectively.
The report further clarifies, "This was in error and has never been the case; the units will be delivered as scheduled at the end of May. We apologise for any confusion caused - customers are being contacted individually by phone (or email if unavailable) to ensure the correct information reaches them."
Claimed to be the slimmest tablet launched so far, Xperia Z tablet measures 6.9 mm in thickness and packs a 10.1 inch Reality Display with a full HD screen resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and Mobile BRAVIA Engine 2, 1.5GHz quad core processor, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS, 8MP Exynos R rear camera, 2MP front camera for video chatting, 16GB/32GB onboard storage, 2GB RAM, a micro SD card slot supporting expandable storage, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, LTE and a 6,000 mAh battery.
